Bakuchiol is considered one of the best plant-based alternatives to retinol because the two are so similar. Like retinol, bakuchiol is a natural alternative to retinol derived from the seeds and leaves of the Psoralea corylifolia plant. It has gained popularity as a gentle non chemical retinol, yet it is a equally effective, option.

It protects the skin from free radical damage, which can prevent the visible signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

Bakuchiol has the same anti-inflammatory and anti-acne properties as retinol. It can unclog congested pores and reduce irritation in your skin to help prevent acne breakouts. Bakuchiol can also shrink your pores. Enlarged pores trap bacteria, dirt, and debris more easily.

Bakuchiol is similar to retinol, bakuchiol appears to stimulate collagen producing receptors in the skin. The difference is less risk of side effects. Retinol can lead to dryness, peeling, and irritation, while bakuchiol has no known side effects.
