Frequently Asked Questions

What should I purchase that will help my TSW?

I have seen numerous success with using a combination of SaNs Oregano Oil and Kaydens Kalming Ointment (KKO) plus optional for scalp rosemary shampoo bar

Recommend if you want to heal the whole body area: best to purchase x2 of each product to last, as seen these have last 2-3 months with excellent results in effective healing if protocol is followed 🙏

If your dealing with only a small part body then just 1 of each product is fine❤️

for management of "Topical Steroid Withdrawal"

What ages is this for?

I used this on my grandchild from 6weeks old to my 95yr old father for any skin irritations & when I first notice eczema like symptoms.Perfect for managing eczema, psoriasis and wounds too.

Is it safe to use?

The ingredients are all natural, all herbs are grown from my garden for authenticity. There are no essential oils and I only use local harvested Manuka bees wax and well sourced Olive Oil from Italy via a NZ outlet.  No side effects expected.

What products work best for combatting TSW?

I have seen numerous success with the use of the Oregano Oil and Kaydens Kalming Ointment (KKO) & healing the scalp with the natural rosemary shampoo bar.

How do I use the Oregano Oil and KKO?

  1. Best to apply on clean skin
  2. After shower I would pat dry and straight away apply the oregano oil first as your skin quickly absorbs it as a base
  3. then I would apply the ointment for long lasting moisture and as it carries natural antimicrobials, with key objectives is to heal and prevent regrowth of the staphylococcus aureus in the skin that potentially if not managed will cause infection.

-------------------------------------------------

How do I apply the protocol of oregano oil & KKO to my skin?

There is no harm to the amount you can apply. You can be generous for super moisturising and then allow your skin to breathe without, or you can patch tests to small areas.
i suggest listen to your body to determine the amount and frequency.

Frequency?

First week

- Once daily to your body

- apply twice daily to excessively dry areas eg neck and face

2nd Week:

or once your skin started healing (2nd week and onwards)

Apply oil and then the ointment

- Once every SECOND day to body

- Twice daily to neck and face

The reason for frequencies is to initially get on top of the healing.

Once your skin starts to become more healed then recommend to change the application to every second day.

Why every 2nd day? This is to allow my skin to breathe and shed the excessive skin off on its own or with a baking soda wet scrub.

Continue oil/ointment as a daily routine on face and neck if these are your worse areas

Protocol for Scalp areas with dry and weepiness:

  • Do not use any shop-bought shampoos as full of thickeners, preservatives and stabilers that only irritates your skin and body.
  • Before hair wash apply the oregano oil to dry scalp areas and let it sit 5-15 mins.
  • And then Use a we cloth rosemary water on cloth add 1 tsp baking soda & gently wet scrub the dry crust off (if tolerable). Do this before hair washwash or during.
  • Wash your hair with rosemary water by making your own with boiling 3 rosemary sprigs in 3cups of water, cool down and put in spray bottle.  Alternatively or together I have a rosemary shampoo bar you can lather into your hands and hair to gently wash.
  • Towel dry and use the natural organic Oregano oil to apply to scalp to help to moisturise and heal. Massage in the ointment in open excoriated areas of the scalp

God bless your healing journey

what next?

Once skin healed or during the healing process seriously consider repairing your gut health with good quality probiotics and good gut healing foods you can learn to make your own or find it eg. Sauerkraut, Kimchi, kombucha, apple cider vinegar.

If itchy flareups occur?

Yep this itchiness is so annoying, but you need to understand it’s the flaky dry skin that is carrying the staphylococcus aureus growth fighting the new skin growth underneath. You want to get rid of the flakiness dying skin by keeping it clean and moist. Aim to allow the new skin to come through. The ingredients in KKO has amazing rich healing properties and the Manuka and Olive oil are formulated the right blend that provides a deep long lasting healing moisturiser. KKO helps slow down and or stops staphylococcus aureus growth that is causing the dry itch.

It will take time, so please hang in there, be kind and patient to your self. Learn self love as you are worth it!

Itchiness protocol:

As your skin is still healing and itchy flareups happen do regular scrub and oil/ointment application will help calm it down after 2-5mins if not consider a bath soak with a cup of baking soda and wash and gently scrub your very dry areas in bath.

What if it bleeds?

There's always risk to infection with open skin, apply KKO generously as it acts as an antibacterial and will keep the staph aureus at bay while it heals

If bleeds or weepy on an limb areas, pat the area clean and apply the ointment and if possible do an overnight wet wrap with the KKO.

 Causes of TSW?

  • Prolonged Use of Topical Steroids:
The most common cause is long-term use of
         topical corticosteroids for conditions like
         eczema or psoriasis.

  • High-Potency Steroid Use:
Using strong or high-potency steroid creams regularly increases the risk of TSW.

  • Frequency of Use:
Daily use of topical steroids, especially in sensitive areas like the face or genitals, can also lead to TSW.

  • Inappropriate Use:
Using topical steroids for conditions they're not meant for or not following prescribed guidelines can trigger TSW.

  • Rebound Effect:
When a patient stops using topical steroids, the body's natural anti-inflammatory response, which has been suppressed by the steroids, may kick in, causing a rebound effect that leads to inflammation and other symptoms.

  • Topical Steroid Addiction:
The prolonged use of topical steroids can lead to a dependence or addiction, where the skin becomes accustomed to the steroid's anti-inflammatory effects, and withdrawal symptoms occur when the steroid is stopped.

In summary, TSW is a reaction that occurs when the body becomes intolerant to topical steroids and develops withdrawal symptoms, when the steroid is stopped. This is most commonly seen after prolonged or high-potency use of steroid creams, often from treating chronic skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
The natural ointments were made for my grandchildren who suffered with chronic severe eczema and helped heal without side effects. Hope these same gifts of nature will help heal you too🙏❤️
